Description
What makes this bass special: Made famous by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, these rare basses are becoming increasingly harder to find, especially in all original condition. This one features a mahogany body in cherry finish & comes with its original chipboard case. Nice, low action so it plays very well & offers some cool, interesting tones.
Cosmetic Condition: Pretty clean for its age, but does show some typical mild play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some light finish wear. Overall the bass has an ultra cool, true vintage look to it with a wonderful patina.
Neck: Rounded mahogany neck with nicely aged binding & black side-dots. There's actually some nice flame figuring in the bass side of the neck. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 31" scale length.
Body: Double-cutaway, solid mahogany body. Top-loading bridge with four adjustable saddles. 3-ply black pickguard with thumb-rest. The thumb-rest has a couple of cracks in it, but is holding together just fine. There are two extra strap buttons holes in the body. Bass weighs 7 lbs 8.1 oz.
Electronics: Two single coil pickups with 4 slider switches: on/off pickup & tone selectors along with a master volume control knob.
Case: Original chipboard case included. The back hinges of the case have come loose, but the case is in good shape overall.
