Description

What makes this guitar special: A very cool vintage player, soaked in mojo and dripping with vibe. The finish checking on the body is spectacular-a gorgeous patina that truly can’t be faked. While we can’t say for sure, this one appears to have been a custom order, as there are no inlays on the fingerboard, and there are no other examples of single pickup Zephyrs from ’61 available. This guitar likely came from the factory with a single “New Yorker” pickup in the neck, which was shortly thereafter replaced with an original Charlie Christian neck pickup, to suit player preference. The thinline body has terrific resonance, while the slim neck feel is very comfortable and easy to navigate. This guitar is a dream to play. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, it will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: A true blue player with a cool vibe and plenty of authentic wear throughout. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with visible finish checking throughout the entire body. The original neck rout was widened to accommodate a vintage Charlie Christian pickup, and it appears a shim was placed under the neck tongue at this time as well. The pickguard is unoriginal, as is the tailpiece. There is an additional hole drilled on the treble side of the body in the cutaway, along with screws in the top to accommodate the Charlie Christian pickups. The tuners have been replaced with Grover Imperials. The truss rod cover is vintage, but does not appear original, and the neck has been refretted. The guitar also has a faint nicotine odor to it. Overall, this one has a terrific look to it, with an honest patina.

Body: Double bound thinline maple body with 7-ply bound spruce top in natural finish. Dual bound f-holes. Unoriginal trapeze tailpiece with rosewood centerpiece and compensated rosewood bridge with floating rosewood base. Unoriginal clear pickguard.

Weight: 6 lb, 13.8 oz

Neck: Slim solid mahogany neck with black side dots and markerless bound rosewood fingerboard. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Bound headstock with pearl Epiphone and fountain logos. Replacement Grover Imperial tuners work great. Neck has been refretted, and frets have a lot of life left. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Electronics: Unoriginal Charlie Christian pickup in the neck position (3.34k ohms), with period correct gold tophat control knobs, 1x tone, 1x volume.

Case: Unoriginal vintage hard shell case included.
