Description
What makes this guitar special: 100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner who kept the guitar in immaculate condition over the years. Rich, sparkling tone with nice ring to it that sustains well. A real beauty & must-have for any serious collector or guitar aficionado.
Cosmetic Condition: Marvelous condition & well cared for over the years by its original owner. For the most part the guitar is pretty clean, but does show a few minor nicks & dings; mild surface scratches & light weather checking. The rosewood bridge has shifted forward a tad bit, obviously due to the tension of the 12-strings, but is still pretty firmly attached to the top of the guitar. At some point down the road a reglue may be necessary, but at this point it seems fine & the guitar is definitely playable. There's some bellying in the top caused by the string tension & also a bit of pickguard shrinkage near the soundhole has caused a bit of warping in the top & disrupted a bit of the rosette, but there are no cracks in the wood & no repairs made to the guitar. It's been literally untouched since the '60s.
Neck: Nicely rounded, wide mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Beautiful dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show some very light wear & are in great shape overall. Mother of pearl split diamond inlay. Kluson Deluxe strip tuners are in perfect working condition. 2" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard. String height at the 12th fret is about 1/8".
Body: Square should dreadnought with solid spruce top in natural finish & 3-ply binding. Rosewood bridge with adjustable saddle. Large tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Mahogany back & sides in cherry finish with single-ply binding. There is no pickup. Guitar weighs 4 lbs 13.1 oz.
Case: Original Gibson brown/red chipboard case included. The case is also in great shape but is missing its handle.
