Description

What makes this guitar special: A phenomenal player with an awesome vibe! This Mustang was modified by a previous owner with a rounded lower cutaway, and professionally refinished in a super cool red sparkle. The important pieces are all there-original body & neck (which has not had the finish altered), and a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are period correct (one dates to ’66, the other is a late ‘60s/early ‘70s black bottom) and the pots are original. This thing absolutely sings when plugged in, with terrific resonance and classic single coil chime. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, it will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: A good honest player, with just some light wear. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with some finish wear on the back of the neck and some scuffing on the headstock decal. The hardware shows expected tarnishing, and the frets show wear consistent with age. The lower cutaway horn was shaved off, and the body has been refinished in red sparkle. The neck date was also sanded off. However, being that the board is Brazilian with clay dot inlays-it corresponds with the ’64 serial & pots. The pickup mounting screws are unoriginal, as are the tuners. A previous owner also plastered a waterslide decal of a pinup girl on the pickguard. Being that the decal is in keeping with the guitar’s vibe, we decided to leave it on. Overall, this piece has an awesome vibe to it, with a great patina.

Body: Offset alder body refinished in red sparkle with modified lower cutaway. 3-ply pearloid pickguard and covered roller bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Fender Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece with unoriginal tremolo arm.

Weight: 6 lb, 13.8 oz

Neck: Thin, solid maple neck with clay side dots and clay dot inlays. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape, and while frets show wear, they still have life in them. All notes intonate properly and ring clear up and down the length of the fingerboard. Transition logo on the headstock with unoriginal vintage style tuners in perfect working condition. 1 1/2" nut width, 24” scale length. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional.

Electronics: ’66 dated gray bottom single coil in the bridge position(5.77k ohms), with late ‘60s/early ‘70s black bottom single coil pickup in the neck position (5.69k ohms). Original 3-way phase switches. Potentiometers date to ’64. All electronics have been tested and are fully functional.

Case: Vintage Fender Mustang case included.
