Description
What makes this guitar special: A wicked bad player's grade SG Standard from the golden age of its production. This killer '64 has an ultra cool, true vintage look to it & plays like a dream. Professionally set up & ready for action straight out of the case!
Cosmetic Condition: Good, honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There's a stress crack that runs across the neck heel & into both body cutaways. The crack is superficial & the neck is quite stable. Overall the guitar has a great, well-played look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Wide, flatter profile mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Original Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Contoured, solid mahogany body. The original Maestro vibrato tailpiece was removed & replaced with a nickel Stopbar. ABR-1 bridge with adjustable saddles. 5-ply small black pickguard shows a bit of warping, but no cracks. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 1.7 oz.
Electronics: Original Pat No neck humbucker - 7.06K ohms; unoriginal bridge humbucker - 8.74K ohms with coil switch. Dual volume & tone controls with black "top hat" knobs & 3-way toggle switch. It's difficult to read all the pot codes, but a couple of them date to '74. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
