Description
What makes this guitar special: 100% original & in fantastic shape for its age. Part of the "Map" guitars that were quite popular in the early '60s, this gorgeous Westwood 77 features a solid mahogany body & neck, double single coil pickups along with an under-saddle pickup, and finished in a gorgeous trans cherry. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so it plays & sounds wonderful.
Cosmetic Condition: Some good honest wear, various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs, with visible weather checking throughout and tarnishing on the hardware. There is some paint scuffing on the pickups, and chipping in the finish along the edges of the fingerboard binding, most notably near the string nut. Overall, this one has a great look to it, with a cool vintage vibe.
Neck: Nicely rounded, chunky mahaogany neck with well-aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Kluson Deluxe strip tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Map-shaped solid mahogany body with some nice flame figuring throughout in cherry finish. Tremolo tailpiece & clear plexi pickguard with National Val Pro badge & white stenciling.
Weight: 7 lb, 11.5 oz
Electronics: Two single coil pickups along with an under-saddle pickup. Each pickup has its own pair of volume & tone controls. Master volume knob & 3-way selector switch. All electronics are in good working condition. Pots date to ’64.
Case: Hard shell case included. Foam interior was previously cut for a slightly different shaped guitar, but there is minimal movement despite this.
