Description
A 1965 Gibson Firebird III electric guitar in sunburst finish.
Cosmetic Condition: Super cool vintage vibe - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & light weather checking. The guitar has been over sprayed & the truss rod cover is not original. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Original nickel tuners in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length.
Body: Neck-thru design with solid mahogany wings. Tremolo tailpiece with compensated bridge; nickel hardware.3-ply white pickguard has faded into a mellow cream color. There are a couple of cracks in the guard & the tip down by the control knobs has broken off. The red Firebird has faded a little bit, but is still pretty strong in color.
Pickups: Original mini humbuckers. Bridge - 6.63K ohms; Neck - 7.27K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with gold "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch. Pots date to '65. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Later-period Gibson hardshell case included.
