Description

What makes this guitar special:  True vintage Mosrite Ventures model with an ultra cool look & super comfortable feel.  Professionally set up by us so it plays great & sounds amazing!  Cream City Music is committed to providing the best possible service to our customers & we strive hard to ensure our vintage guitars are advertised as accurately as possible.  This particular Mosrite, however, is slightly perplexing as it relates to the body finish.  The black finish is indeed the proper color used during this time period, however, when we took the guitar apart we noticed remnants of red finish in various cavity areas, most notably the neck pocket & in the control cavity.  A little bit also appears along the treble side of the neck & along the bottom edge of the body near the strap button.  The electronics are correct.  The neck pocket is clean & still shows the ink dates, as does the back of the neck.  We're not 100% sure, but it's quite possible this guitar may have started out red, but was changed to black before it shipped from the factory.  In short, it's difficult to say for sure if it was truly refinished after it left the factory or if it was done by Mosrite.  Either way, it's still a magnificent guitar with lots of cool vintage vibe.

Cosmetic Condition:  Typical wear & tear for its age - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some finish wear.  Overall the guitar has a wonderful look to it with a gorgeous patina.

Neck:  Slender profile maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side dots.  Dark rosewood fingerboard with micro dot inlays.  The guitar was professionally refretted with bigger frets which show no wear.  Newer Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition.  1 9/16" nut width with zero fret; 24 3/4" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine.  Neck date is Aug 27, 1965.

Body:  Solid maple body with a beveled top.  Moseley tremolo tailpiece & six-saddle adjustable bridge.  The trem arm is missing.  Original 3-ply mint pickguard is in good condition with no cracks. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 15.7 oz.  Body date is Nov 1, 1965.

Pickups:  Original Mosrite single coils.  Bridge - 11.62K ohms; Neck - 11.81K ohms.  Master volume & tone controls with Mosrite logo knobs; 3-way toggle switch.  Pots date to '65 & electronics are in good working condition.

Case:  Original black hardshell case included.  Handle is missing.
