Description

What makes this guitar special:  100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner who kept the guitar in great shape over the years.  The dual SuperTron pickups sound wonderful & produce warm, rich tones.  Professionally set up by our luthier with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic.

Cosmetic Condition:  Great shape for being a nearly 50-year old guitar - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & tarnish on the hardware.  The binding has deteriorated in various areas on the guitar along the neck & body, but this is rather typical of Gretches from the period.  There's some cracking in the binding & some pieces missing as well.  Overall the guitar has a great look to it, with a cool vintage vibe & gorgeous patina.

Neck:  Maple neck with cream binding & red side-dots.  Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl 'thumbnail' & dot inlays.  Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them.  We noticed that the frets begin to slant a bit from about the 12th fret on up.  Not sure if this was done on purpose at the factory, but they are original nonetheless.  Bound headstock with gold Viking plaque riveted to the front.  Grover Imperial tuners are in perfect working condition.  1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 25 1/2" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.

Body:  Hollow maple body with 4-ply binding on the top & back and bound F-holes.  Bigsby tremolo tailpiece with Space Control bridge.  Built-in tuning fork & string mute.  The mute pad has hardened over the years, but the mechanism is in good working condition.  Gold plexi pickguard is in great shape with no cracks & the black Gretsch Viking logos are very clear.  The back pad is also in great shape with no tears or missing snaps.  Guitar weighs 8 lbs 13.4 oz.

Pickups:  Gretsch SuperTron humbuckers with gold bezels.  Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with "G" Arrow knobs.  3-way pickup & tone selector switches along with standby switch.  All electronics are in good working condition.

Case:  Original Ess & Ess hardshell case included.  One of the brass circular 'feet' is missing from the bottom of the case, but otherwise it's in great shape like the guitar.
