Description

What makes this guitar special:  For those in search of the ultimate player's grade vintage Tele, we'd like to present this '67 in all its glory - a true beater!  This guitar looks like it's just about seen it all, run through the mill & totally worked over.  But this beautiful disaster has some serious dynamite in it - great feel, killer tone & bad ass vibe!  Stripped & modified, it's lost its vintage value, but it bites like a junkyard dog & strikes like a cobra!  Here's a great opportunity to own a true vintage Tele at an affordable price.

Cosmetic Condition:  The finish has been stripped off the body.  The original finish appears to have been Olympic White or perhaps even Blonde as evidenced by the tiny remnant left on the corner near the neck pocket.  The original neck pickup was replaced with a vintage Gibson Pat No humbucker.  The body was routed through the back to accommodate the humbucker.  Don't ask why they went through the back - it's a head scratcher.  The guitar is a real road warrior with lots of play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, buckle rash & some finish wear.  The letter "B" was etched into the top & there are some pencil markings & tiny holes around the control plate, perhaps they were getting ready for another route - yikes!  Overall the guitar has a cool, well-played look to it with a nice patina.

Neck:  Original maple neck with black side-dots.  Maple cap fingerboard with black dot inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them.  Original string tree & Kluson Deluxe tuners in perfect working condition.  The neck does not appear to have been refinished, however, the headstock decals are missing.  1 5/8" nut width with a very small chip in the high E slot.  25 1/2" scale length; neck is straight & truss rod is functioning.  Neck stamp reads 3 MAY 67 B.  Neck plate serial number reads 187662.

Body:  Original solid ash body - stripped finish & neck pickup route all the way through.  Original bridge plate & saddles.  Unoriginal, single-ply black pickguard.  Guitar weighs 6 lbs 15.5 oz.

Pickups:  Original single coil bridge pickup - 5.61K ohms.  Unoriginal Gibson Pat No neck humbucker - 7.60K ohms.  Not sure on the exact year of the humbucker, but it appears to be from the late '60s or early '70s.  Master volume & tone controls with the original knurled knobs.  There's some red finish around the knobs.  3-way selector switch with newer black 'top hat' cap.  The pot codes are illegible due to the solder points & some corrosion.  The original jackplate was replaced with a Gibson, but the original is included with the guitar.  All electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case:  Vintage fender hardshell case included, quite possibly from '64.  The case is in rough shape with some moisture damage, but serves its purpose well.
