Description

What makes this guitar special: A beautiful and rare double pickup model of the Anniversary, with a really cool vintage vibe and a wonderful patina. It exhibits all the pre-Baldwin specifications, made in the last year before the illustrious company was sold and subsequently moved from their Brooklyn manufacturing facilities. This one shows all kinds of authentic player’s wear and was obviously well-loved, but still plays great and has a rich, full sound. The neck carve on this piece is impeccable, with a full rounded profile that thickens ever so slightly as you trend toward the neck joint…this one is sure to have you playing for hours. As with all our guitars, it comes professionally setup and inspected by Cream City Music’s expert in-house luthiers, ready to play right out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Pretty good shape for its age, with some telltale signs of aging. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, scuffs, and chips throughout the guitar, with various small spots of finish wear and pock marks in the finish on the back of the neck, and some visible oxidation on the hardware. There is a slight ridge along in the back of headstock that extends down through about the first fret on the back of the neck, but doesn’t hinder playability. Visible weather checking exists throughout the guitar, along with characteristic binding rot around the body, most notably on the neck heel. Frets are pretty well worn, but all notes still intonate properly up and down the length of the neck. This one came to us with a few issues, but the neck been professionally reset and the truss rod repaired, so it’s structurally sound with a ton of life ahead of it, and a bone straight neck with terrific action.

Body: Double bound hollow maple body with dual f-holes in sunburst finish. Trapeze tailpiece and space roller bridge with rosewood base. Original Gretsch pickguard has no cracks or breaks.

Weight: 7 lb, 1.6 oz

Neck: Full rounded-C profile maple neck with red side dots and mother-of-pearl thumbnail inlays. 1 3/4” nut width with zero fret. 24.6” scale length. Double bound rosewood fingerboard shows some pitting across the first 6 frets or so, but is in overall good shape. Frets are pretty well worn, but all notes still ring clear up and down the length of the fingerboard.

Electronics: Dual HiLoTron pickups (Neck-3.21K ohms, Bridge-3.26K ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch, 3-way tone switch, and G-Arrow knobs, 2x individual volume, and 1x master volume.

Case: Original hard shell case included. Case is a bit battered and has a slightly musty smell to it, but is in overall good shape and does the job fine.
