What makes this guitar special: Great shape for its age & truly superb player! Even before you plug it in, the guitar has a naturally rich acoustic tone to it with a warm resonance. So many of these Gretsches from the '60s seem to have neck issues, but this one plays great up & down the fretboard. There are a couple of mods to note - the changed tuners & unoriginal bridge, but these both add to the superior playability of the guitar. Professionally set up by our luthier so it plays & sounds amazing!
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused, with typical light play wear - various minor nicks, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some tarnished hardware. Both bezel rings have a crack each & there's a crack down the center of the pickguard. Overall the guitar has a cool vintage vibe & a beautiful patina.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with some light flame figuring. Nicely aged cream binding with red side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl "thumbnail" inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with Chet Atkins Nashville Model plaque. The original Grover Sta-Tite tuners were replaced with Rotomatics, which are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions properly.
Body: Double-cutaway, hollow maple body with 2-ply binding & simulated F-holes. Bigsby tremolo tailpiece with unoriginal bridge. The bridge is actually a Gibson with adjustable brass saddles & the rosewood base is screwed down into the body on both sides to keep it stable. The mute pad has deteriorated like most of them do, but the internal mechanism is still there. Gold plexi pickguard with Chet Aktins signature & Gretsch Nashville logos in black. The upper body strap button is not original. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 11.7 oz.
Pickups: Original FilterTron humbuckers with gold bezels. Master volume & individual pickup volume controls with "G" Arrow knobs. 3-way pickup & tone selector switches; 3-way standby switch. All electronics are original & in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
