Description

What makes this guitar special:  An absolutely stunning J-200 in fabulous condition!  This gorgeous Jumbo was just recently acquired from the second owner, who hadn't really owned it for that long.  The original owner was a southern minister who played the guitar in church only & took excellent care of it over the years.  In fact, it spent the last twenty years he owned it tucked away in the closet after retiring from church playing.  The guitar has a bright, powerful voice that projects well.  The slender maple neck is very comfortable & plays great up & down the fretboard.  The ice tea sunburst finish is magnificent & gives the guitar that classic, true vintage look.  It has been professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so it's ready to play upon arrival.

Cosmetic Condition:  Amazing condition for being nearly 50 years old - not a single crack!  Gently used with mild play wear - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some light finish wear.  You can tell this guitar was loved.  It's got a great look with a beautiful vintage vibe & marvelous patina.

Neck:  Slender profile flame maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots.  Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl crown inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them.  Bound headstock with mother of pearl holly inlay & Custom truss rod cover.  Gold Kluson "waffle back" tuners are in perfect working condition.  The tuners show some tarnish & the D tuner is just slightly bent, but functions perfectly.  1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body:  Jumbo size body with solid spruce top & 7-ply binding.  Rosewood "mustache" bridge with mother of pearl inlays.  Rosewood end pins with pearloid dot inlays & rosewood adjustable saddle.  The bridge appears to have been re-glued at some point, but is quite firmly attached to the top.  Large tortoise pickguard with floral motif & multi-ring rosette.  Flame maple sides & back with 5-ply binding.  The back shows off some gorgeous flame figuring & the colorful, geometric center strip adds to the panache.  Two things of note are the absence of the orange oval label inside the body, which most likely came unglued & disappeared quite some time ago.  And secondly, the guitar is fitted with a factory-installed interior top brace that is original to the guitar.  We have seen this before in '60s Gibson Jumbos.  The strap pins are unoriginal.  There are no electronics.  Guitar weighs 6 lbs 3.2 oz.

Case:  The guitar is matched with a much earlier-period brown hardshell case, most likely from the '40s or '50s.  The case shows some wear & tear, but is quite sturdy & serves its purpose well.
