Description
What makes this guitar special: An early Professional, built with recording in mind and designed in principle by Les himself. Made alongside the Les Paul Personal, both are notable for their low-impedance pickup systems, 3-way tone switching, phase switching, and decade controls. Both models were discontinued in ’72 with the introduction of the Les Paul Recording. This particular piece is in terrific shape for its age, with some honest wear and striking weather checking throughout. The neck maneuvers smoothly, and plays like a dream. Professionally setup and inspected by our expert in-house luthiers, it’ll arrive ready to play right out of the case.
Cosmetic condition: Great shape for its age, with some standard wear and tear throughout. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, and scuffs, along with some light fretwear. Most of the guitar showcases checking in the finish, and the back of the body sports some light buckle rash. There is a notable chip right behind the neck joint as well. The frets have been filed down by a previous owner, as a result there is some fret buzz on the low-E when played acoustically in the first position.
Body: Solid mahogany body with bound mahogany top in dark walnut finish. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece.
Weight: 12 lb, 2.6 oz
Neck: C-shaped 3-piece mahogany neck with black side dots and pearl trapezoid inlays. Bound rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape and while frets show light wear, they still have plenty of life left in them. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Black headstock overlay with pearl Gibson logo. Les Paul Professional truss rod cover. Original “G” tuners function perfectly. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.
Electronics: Dual low-impedance Gibson pickups with 3-way pickup selector switch, 2-way phase switch, 3-way tone switch, and black speed knobs, 1x decade, 2x volume, 1x tone. Pots date to '70. All electronics have been tested and are in working condition.
Note: Due to the nature of the low-impedance pickups, this guitar requires an impedance transformer in order to be played through an amplifier at normal volume. The original cable is included, but does not function.
Case: Unoriginal hard shell case included.
