Description
What makes this guitar special: A wonderful player's grade SG Special with some really smart mods - namely the '72 Pat No humbuckers, Schaller tuners & Badass bridge. The neck plays & feels perfect - a bit slender down by the first fret, but gradually gets thicker as you work your way up the fretboard so that by the time you hit the 12th fret, it's nice & chunky. Light weight with a natural acoustic resonance, this is killer playing guitar with fabulous mojo.
Cosmetic Condition: Lots of good honest wear & tear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, heavy weather checking & finish wear. Overall the guitar has a cool, true vintage vibe to it with a nice patina.
Neck: Perfectly rounded mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original small frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. The Gibson headstock inlay has pretty much worn down to point where it's just the mother of pearl silhouette. The original tuners were replaced with Schallers Made In W. Germany. 1 9/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Contoured, solid mahogany body. The original tailpiece was replaced with a Badass wrap-around with individual adjustable saddles for better intonation. 5-ply large black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 11.6 oz.
Pickups: The original P-90 single coils were replaced with Gibson Pat No humbuckers from '72 with embossed covers & black bezels. Bridge - 7.52K ohms; Neck - 7.58K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with newer black "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch. Pots date to '70 & all electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
