Description

What makes this guitar special: A real road warrior, with a terrific vibe and all original, classic playability. This one sports a meaty, full shaped neck for unbelievable comfort in maneuvering up and down the length of the rosewood fingerboard. This one sports its fair share of bumps and bruises, with some road rash and scars, but no cracks or breaks. It’s solid as a rock, and projects a tone as gnarly and in-your-face as its looks. The serial puts this one between ’70 and ’72, with original tarbacks, introduced in ’71. The only pot code that isn’t covered by a solder joint appears to read 71, but is partially obscured…as such, we’re calling it a ’71, but there is a slim possibility that it is actually a ‘72. It’s been professionally setup and inspected by our in-house master luthier, and will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Just the way we like ‘em-various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, scuffs, gouges, and scrapes, with visible finish checking throughout most of the instrument and a handful of areas of finish wear. This was obviously someone’s go-to for many years and shows signs of wear consistent with age, but there are no cracks or breaks, and it’s structurally sound. The finish around the neck joint has chipped away, but there is no separation. Frets show wear consistent with age, but still have some life in them, and all notes intonate properly up and down the length of the fingerboard. The tailpiece is a replacement as well.

Body: Solid mahogany body with dual horns in cherry finish. Tune-O-Matic bridge and replacement stopbar tailpiece. Multi-ply black pickguard.

Weight: 7 lb, 3.7 oz

Neck: Chunky mahogany neck with black side dots and pearl rectangle inlays. 1 9/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Black headstock overlay with gold Gibson logo and crown. Chrome sealed Gibson tuners function perfectly. Double bound rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape, and while frets show wear consistent with age, they still have some life left in them. Neck is straight and plays great up and down the length of the fingerboard.

Electronics: Original Gibson tarback humbuckers (Neck-5.36K ohms, Bridge-7.59K ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch and black speed knobs, 2x volume, 2x tone.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
