Description
What makes this guitar special: A rare electric archtop made for only a brief period of time in the mid to late '70s. This gorgeous "Johnny Smith" model was made in Japan at the height of the "lawsuit" era guitars that have become so highly sought-after for their premium quality construction & overall playability. This gorgeous guitar sports a pair of floating mini humbuckers with pickguard-mounted controls & an 1/8" input jack. We've included a complimentary 1/8" to 1/4" cable for your convenience. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: Good honest play wear, just the way we like 'em - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking in the binding & some mild finish wear. The binding shows some deterioration & cracking. A lot of the gold hardware has tarnished, but still maintains its charm. Overall the guitar has a wonderful, true vintage look to it with a fabulous patina.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with ebony fingerboard & multi-ply binding. Mother of pearl split block inlays & black side-dots in the binding. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Multi-bound headstock with mother of pearl inlay. Gotoh Gold Star tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine.
Body: Single-cutaway, hollow body archtop with bound F-holes. Spruce top with 7-ply binding. Trapeze tailpiece & floating ebony bridge with mother of pearl inlays. 5-ply tortoise pickguard with top-mounted control knobs. Gorgeous flame maple back & sides with 3-ply binding. 17" lower bout width; 3 1/2" depth. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 15.6 oz.
Electronics: Two floating mini humbuckers with dual volume & tone controls along with a 3-way rotary pickup selector. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The outside of the case is a little worse for the wear, but serves its purpose well.
