Description

100% original & an amazing player with incredible tone & feel. This was Fender's first active bass with a specially developed active circuit (preamp, bass & treble), but it can also be used in passive mode with a passive tone control. Made for only a brief period of time between 1980 & 1982, these awesome basses are becoming increasingly difficult to find & are a definite must-have for any serious collector or player.

Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused, with typical signs of play wear for a bass its age - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the bass has a great look to it with a beautiful patina.

Neck: Nicely rounded maple neck with "skunk stripe." Maple fingerboard with black dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with plenty of life in them. Candy Apple Red headstock finish matches the body & the decals are in great shape with no bits missing. Gold Fender tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is slightly bowed & truss rod is maxed out, but the bass plays well up until about the 15th fret.

Body: Contoured, solid alder body finished in Candy Apple Red with gold hardware. Top-loading bridge with four adjustable brass saddles. 3-ply white pickguard with brass thumb rest. Bass weighs 10.45 lbs.

Electronics: P-Bass split single coil with white covers - Master volume & dual tone controls with gold knurled knobs; 2-way mini toggle; 9-volt battery compartment in the back of the body. Pots date to '80 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case: Original hardshell case included.
