Description

A gorgeous sounding Byrdland offering warm, rich tones with a wonderful acoustic resonance to it. The faded cherry sunburst finish looks fabulous coupled with the beautiful flame figuring in the body. Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case!

Cosmetic Condition: Great shape overall with some typical play wear for its age - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. An unoriginal bridge had been pinned at one time so there are two holes in the top of the body, however, the original bridge base is back on. There are two other holes in the top near the bass-side of the neck which held a gold plaque reading 'Custom Made For Klausman'. The plaque was removed some time ago, but is included with the guitar. The bridge pickup ring had a small crack in it & was glued around the treble side bolt hole. Overall the guitar looks marvelous with an authentic vintage vibe & beautiful patina.

Neck: Slender profile maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Multi-bound headstock with mother of pearl floral pot inlay. Kluson cast tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 23 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.

Body: Single-cut, hollow body with bound F-holes. Solid spruce top with 7-ply binding. Three-loop trapeze tailpiece with Byrdland engraved in the crossbar. Original Gibson ABR-1 bridge with newer saddles. The floating ebony base with mother of pearl inlays is original & not pinned. Flame maple back & sides with 3-ply binding. Tortoise pickguard with 5-ply binding. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 4.2 oz.& is exceptionally resonant!

Electronics: Gibson Pat No. humbuckers with Gibson embossed covers & black bezels. The bezel screws were a bit loose in the top, so maple blocks were added underneath to better support the pickup mounting rings. Dual volume & tone controls with black 'witch hat' knobs & 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case: Original hardshell case included along with the original canvas case cover & owner's manual - now how cool is that!
