Description
Made for only a brief moment from around 1957 to '60, this lovely Barney Kessel Pro features a large Kelvinator headstock & some pretty flame maple figuring in the body. It is fitted with a pair of DeArmond "Kleenex Box" single coils that deliver rich, robust tones. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action so it's ready to play upon arrival.
Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear/discoloration. The body binding has shrunk just a little bit in the waist, but not too bad.
Neck: Semi-chunky maple neck with ivoroid binding. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Large Kelvinator headstock with Grover Sta-Tite open-gear tuners. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & the action is nice & playable.
Body: Semi-hollow, flame maple body with an arched top & back. Nickel trapeze tailpiece with floating rosewood bridge. Silver plexi pickguard with gold Barney Kessel logo inside. 4-ply top binding & single-ply binding on the back. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 4.1 oz.
Electronics: Two DeArmond "Kleenex Box"single coils with 3-way toggle switch. Dual volume & tone controls with clear "top hat" reflector knobs. Pots date to '57 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Unoriginal semi-hardshell case included.
