Description
Cosmetic Condition: An ultra cool & very rare Gibson mandolin manufactured between the mid to late '60s in Kalamazoo. This double cutaway masterpiece shows off a beautiful cherry sunburst finish with gorgeous flame maple back & sides. Overall the mandolin is in great shape for its age - various minor nicks & dings; some finish wear near the soundhole & on the back of the neck; light surface scratches & weather checking. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs. It has been professionally set up by us with fresh strings & perfect action, so it plays marvelously & sounds amazing! Bright & punchy; very loud with wonderful sustain.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. There is some pitting in the fingerboard from years of play, but this does not affect its playability or sound quality. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Original Kluson Deluxe tuners with pearloid buttons are in perfect working condition. 1 3/16" nut width; 14" scale length. Neck plays & feels great!
Body: Double bound, double cutaway finished in cherry sunburst. Solid spruce top with Gibson engraved nickel tailpiece. Compensated rosewood bridge. Bound, oval soundhole with 11-ply rosette. Unfortunately the pickguard is missing. Solid flame maple back & sides with some truly stunning grain patterns.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
