Description
What makes this mandolin special: Since we don't know who the manufacturer is, all we can really do is discuss the construction & playability of the mandolin, which quite frankly, is rather exceptional. Whoever made it did a fine job & the overall fit & finish is definitely top quality. What's most interesting about the mandolin is the engraving in the back of the headstock along with the friction-style tuners. But of course the real magic lies in its voice, which is quite powerful indeed - very warm & rich sounding with excellent sound projection. In short, a really fun mandolin being offered at an affordable price.
Cosmetic Condition: The mandolin is definitely vintage (exact year unknown) & shows typical play wear for an older instrument - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & finish wear. The neck heel cap is missing & there an o labels or markings inside. Overall the mandolin has a great look to it with a nice patina.
Neck: Dark stained maple neck & fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Frets are in good condition with hardly any play wear. Friction tuners function well.
Body: A-Style body with solid spruce top. Nickel tailpiece with floating bridge & small tortoise pickguard. Bound top & back with multi-ring rosette. Not exactly sure what the back & sides are made of, but they appear to be either oak or walnut. Mandolin weighs 1 lb 5.3 oz. There are no electronics or case.
