Description
A splendid 4001 with a super cool, true vintage vibe. Low action & killer tone ensure this beauty will live on in the hands of its next owner. Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case. Don't miss out on great opportunity to pick up a piece of true Rickenbacker history.
Cosmetic Condition: Really nice shape for being 46 years old, with some mild play wear - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & only light weather checking. Overall the bass looks wonderful & has a beautiful patina.
Neck: Rounded maple & walnut neck with nicely aged white binding & black side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl "shark tooth" inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Open-back nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. The D & G tuners have replacement gear bolts. 1 11/16" nut width; 33 1/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rods work fine.
Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings & top binding. Top-loading bridge with adjustable saddles. Single-ply white plexi pickguard. Bass weighs 9 lbs 9.1 oz.
Electronics: Rickenbacker Hi Gain single coils with 3-way toggle switch. Dual volume & tone controls. Mono & stereo outputs. Pots date to '78 & all electronics are original & in good working condition.
Case: Later-period Ric hardshell case included. The right-side latch is bent & doesn't close properly, but the others are fine.
