Description

Japan was creating some really great "lawsuit" instruments in the '70s & this super cool Univox Model U1975B Stereo Bass is no exception. Clearly a direct copy of Rickenbacker's iconic 4001 bass, it even features the same body contours & neck-thru design. The bass side of the body shows of some really gorgeous bird's eye figuring & even has a pair of actual Rickenbacker pickups in it. If you can't afford the original, this is a perfect second choice.

Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & some finish wear. There's an extra screw hole in the back of the bass-side horn. There's some discoloration in the finish along the edges & binding.

Neck: Maple & walnut neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl triangle inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Closed-back tuners are in good working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rods are in good working condition, however, the truss rod cover was missing so a generic replacement was put on instead.

Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings & top binding. Top-loading bridge with adjustable saddles. Single-ply white plexi pickguard is in good condition is in good condition with no cracks. Bass weighs 8 lbs 9.2 oz.

Electronics: Toaster top neck pickup & Hi Gain bridge pickup. Dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch. Mono & Stereo outputs. All electronics are in good working condition.

Case: Hardshell case included.
