Description
The Walrus Audio Fundamental Series Lo-Fi Delay Pedal gives you three distinct takes on worn, imperfect echoes without burying them behind a complicated control set. AM, Murk, and Echo modes cover everything from bright repeats with gentle pitch movement to dark, heavily modulated ambience and rhythmic multi-tap patterns. Like the rest of the Fundamental Series, it's approachable enough for someone getting into effects for the first time, but there's plenty here for experienced players looking for a straightforward source of lo-fi delay textures.
Time sets the spacing of the repeats with up to one second of delay, Feedback moves from a single echo toward long, evolving trails, and Mix ranges from completely dry to 100% wet. AM mode combines high-pass filtering, light harmonic distortion, and dual wow-and-flutter modulation for bright echoes that gradually thin and degrade. Murk goes the other direction with rolled-off highs, heavier distortion, and slow modulation that creates dense, shifting clouds around your playing. Echo uses multiple taps and analog-style tone shaping; shorter times blur toward reverb-like ambience, while longer settings create syncopated patterns and cascading rhythmic repeats.
Holding the bypass switch engages Tap Mode, and the three-way mode switch then selects quarter-note, dotted-eighth, or eighth-note divisions. Trails are enabled by default so repeats can decay naturally after bypass, but you can disable them when you want the delay to stop immediately. We like how much ground Walrus managed to cover without losing the point of the Fundamental Series. Three sliders and a switch can get you from a little worn movement behind your dry signal to full, murky delay washes without much setup.
