At its core, the Carbon X combines two distinct Carbon-style circuits. The left side is the familiar Carbon V2, complete with a 3-way hi-cut toggle to shape the top end for different amps and stacking situations. The right side takes things in a different direction, with reduced headroom, added sag, and a grittier, more raw response. On its own, it delivers a more aggressive take on the Carbon voice, but when stacked into the left side, it creates a fuller, more saturated tone that still retains note definition and dynamics.
From a usability standpoint, this pedal is designed to make stacking feel natural. Each side works well independently, but together they offer a wide range of gain textures without getting muddy. Soft switching with an adjustable startup state keeps things consistent on your board, and the internal switch allows for better integration with loopers.
