The EVH 5150 Iconic Series is built for gigging and recording guitarists who want EVH tube tone at a more accessible price point. Inspired by the acclaimed EVH 5150III amplifiers, the Iconic Series captures the aggressive sound and saturated gain that defined Eddie Van Halens groundbreaking career. The 40-watt 1x12 combo was designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown and is powered by two 6L6 power tubes along with a hybrid preamp section driven by dual ECC83 tubes, delivering the punch clarity and firepower modern players demand.
Housed in an MDF cabinet with internal plywood baffling for tight enhanced bass response, this combo features a custom voiced EVH 12-inch Celestion speaker designed specifically for this circuit. Two channels each offer an additional voicing for expanded versatility. The Green channel includes an overdrive switch that moves from clean tones to increased gain, while the Red channel features a burn switch for added crunch and soaring lead tones. Each channel has independent gain and volume controls for seamless level matching, and channel two includes a fast attack noise gate to keep high gain tones tight and articulate. A footswitchable boost adds 10 dB of volume for solos, while shared EQ controls for low mid and high, along with global presence resonance and reverb, allow detailed tone shaping.
Additional features include a two button footswitch, effects loop, and a quarter power switch that reduces wattage while preserving tone at lower volumes. A speaker-emulated DI XLR output with power amp mute provides authentic EVH tone for direct recording or connection to a PA system.
