The EVH 5150 Iconic Series is crafted for gigging and recording guitarists who demand powerful EVH tube tone at a more attainable price. Inspired by the revered EVH 5150III amplifiers, the Iconic Series captures the saturated tones that Eddie Van Halen made legendary. The 80-watt head was designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown and is powered by four 6L6 tubes, paired with a multi stage hybrid ECC83 preamp to deliver massive headroom punch and clarity in a straightforward, easy-to-use format.
This head features two channels each with an additional voicing for expanded versatility. The Green channel includes an overdrive switch that moves from rich clean tones to increased gain, while the Red channel features a burn switch for added crunch and sustained lead tones. Independent gain and volume controls on each channel allow seamless level matching between clean and high gain sounds. A fast attack noise gate on channel two keeps high gain riffs tight and articulate, while a footswitchable boost adds 10 dB of volume to ensure solos cut through the mix. Shared EQ controls for low mid and high, along with global presence resonance and reverb, provide detailed control over the overall tonal balance.
Additional features include a two button footswitch, effects loop, and dual parallel speaker outputs for flexible cabinet connections. A quarter power switch reduces wattage while preserving tone at lower volumes, making it easier to achieve driven sounds without excessive stage volume. A speaker emulated DI XLR output with power amp mute allows for accurate direct recording or connection to a PA system, delivering authentic EVH tone in any performance or studio environment.
