In the '50s and '60s, countless catalog guitars came equipped with gold foil pickups. While the pros may have disregarded these pickups under the assumption that they were a cheap gimmick, garage rockers began using guitars equipped with them out of necessity. Soon enough, tons of players were drawn to the low-output sparkle of these pickups, and their sound has since become synonymous with '60s garage rock. The all-new Gold Foil Telecaster is a modern take on those classic guitars, and it's great for folks who want a unique Fender with tons of character.
The Gold Foil Tele features a mahogany body, an uncommon choice for Fender, giving it a darker, warmer sound with punchy mids and rich lows. Its '60s "C" shaped maple neck has a nice, vintage feel, and its ebony fingerboard and medium jumbo frets play exceptionally well. It also has a chopped brass saddle bridge that provides rock-solid intonation and exceptional sustain.
Of course, it wouldn't be called a Gold Foil Telecaster if it weren't equipped with a pair of gold foil mini-humbuckers. These pickups have an unbelievable vintage sound - they're chimey, raw, and highly responsive to changes in picking hand attack. They're also very reactive to the settings of the volume and tone controls, allowing players to dial in a wealth of '60s rock tones.
Fully spec'd out with white pearloid dot inlays and vintage-style tuners, the Gold Foil Telecaster is a one-of-a-kind guitar that nails that '60s-era garage rock sound.
