Here’s a hot one! This is a new limited edition factory special run or “FSR” model made exclusively for Cream City Music. From the Gretsch professional series, there has never been a proper reissue of the 1960’s spec Jet Firebird, until now. This is the G6131T-1965 Jet Firebird!
The G6131T-1965 borrows features from a few models made in the mid 1960’s. This Firebird adds a "zero-fret", double cutaway body design and gorgeous gold hardware. It's a bit lighter than a single cut version and much improved access to the higher frets. We added all gold hardware and TV Jones Super’Tron pickups to complete the 60’s package. The guitar has an extremely cool yet unique vibe to it but also packs tremendous tone and playability. The Jet Firebird can be considered a solid body guitar because it’s constructed of a solid mahogany back. However, due to a heavily chambered body and a 3 ply maple top, the guitar retains some of that sweet hollow body Gretsch tone. The chambered body design yields a guitar that is very well balanced and at 7 lbs 10 oz feels just right. The neck is a slightly slimmer “C” shape with softer taper and traditional feel. This shape, combined with a 12” fretboard radius and 19th fret neck joint gives the guitar tremendous playability and accessibility. The pickups are specially built gold plated TV Jones Super’Trons. The Super’Tron is essentially a Filter’Tron that utilizes a flat bar magnet instead of individual pole pieces. This creates a larger magnet surface that results in a wider frequency range with tremendous punch and power. They have a thick and meaty sound with higher gain settings but clean up really well retaining the classic woody tones Gretsch guitars are famous for. It’s a unique pickup that offers both full bodied and warm clean tones as well as controlled and articulate high gain sounds.
On paper this guitar sounded like a great idea, now that we have them here in our shop we can honestly say it’s absolutely stunning and we’re thrilled with how they turned out. You might consider this guitar a “pre-modified” Malcolm Young model because it’s a like what Malcolm’s original Firebird would have looked like before the notorious modifications. The guitar is as unique as it is stylish and represents an era of Gretsch that does not get enough praise. Exactly sixteen G6131T-1695 models were made and they are exclusive to Cream City Music. This is a brand new factory first guitar and comes with the deluxe Gretsch hard case, all factory documentation and the Gretsch limited lifetime warranty.

Why We Love Gretsch
Gretsch has been handcrafting guitars for over 135 years. The unique sound of the Gretsch semi-hollow body guitar has become synonymous with rockabilly music, one of the first styles of rock ‘n roll. Gretsch guitars are a favorite among musicians like Chet Atkins, Brian Setzer and George Harrison. At Cream City Music, we love Gretsch too, which is why we always have a huge selection of new, used and vintage Gretsch guitars in stock.
