JHS 3 Series Ring Modulator is built for players who want to explore everything from subtle modulation to more experimental, metallic textures without dealing with a complicated interface. This is a great fit for players looking to add movement, harmonic complexity, or something a little unpredictable to their sound. Like the rest of the 3 Series, it keeps things simple but gives you a wide range to work with.
At its core, the pedal lets you blend ring modulation with your dry signal using the Blend control, while the Frequency knob adjusts the speed of the internal oscillator, moving from slow, pulsing modulation to higher-pitched, bell-like tones. The Mode toggle gives you two distinct voices. Earworm mode adds an LFO-driven movement using the Tweak control, creating a more animated and evolving modulation. Green Lantern mode introduces a wave-rectified octave effect, with the Tweak control blending that octave in for anything from subtle harmonic enhancement to more aggressive, layered textures.
From a usability standpoint, this is an easy pedal to experiment with. You can keep it subtle underneath your playing or push it into more extreme territory depending on how you set the controls. It pairs well with overdrive or fuzz placed before it, which can really bring out the more complex textures. It runs on standard 9V power and fits easily on any board.
