Old Blood Beam Splitter V2, Cool takes the multi-tracked guitar concept behind the original Beam Splitter and gives it a much deeper set of performance and routing tools. A single input feeds three distinct drive voices in parallel, creating the feel of layered guitar tracks from one performance. Drive 1 is the heaviest and most compressed, using hard clipping; Drive 2 combines soft and hard clipping for the lightest and brightest voice; Drive 3 is a dynamically reactive transistor overdrive with a fuzz-like gain character. Each drive gets its own Gain, Volume, and Tone controls, so you can build three complementary layers instead of simply duplicating the same sound.
Two of those drives can be routed through independent delays with up to 211ms of delay time, while Deviate introduces random timing variations inspired by the small inconsistencies of separately tracked performances. Spread pans the delayed voices outward for a wider stereo image. Beam Splitter V2 supports mono, mono-in/stereo-out, stereo, and OBNE's three-output "Trereo" routing, giving you plenty of options for a single amp, stereo rig, recording interface, or three-amp setup. A Delay Select control determines which two drives receive the delays, while the remaining drive stays undelayed.
V2 adds three onboard presets, up to 127 presets through MIDI, expression control over any combination of the main knobs, configurable footswitch operation, and selectable true bypass or buffered bypass with trails. The three footswitches can handle bypass and preset cycling or be reassigned to independently switch the three drive sections. We think that's what makes Beam Splitter V2 especially useful; it can be a massive layered drive sound on its own, or become the center of a much more elaborate stereo or multi-amp rig. The Cool finish gives the pedal its blue-toned colorway without changing the underlying circuit or functionality.
