The Phazer from Radial Engineering is an excellent tool for producers and mixing engineers, allowing users to sum two line-level signals together to quickly and accurately phase-align tracks for improved clarity and tone.
The Phazer packs a lot of features into its sturdy, compact enclosure. Using the Invert and Shift controls, users can set the phase shift of their signal anywhere from 0 to 360 degrees. Once you've achieved the desired sound, you can mix it in using the Blend control, from completely dry to fully wet. Users can also use The Phazer's Filter Range section to smooth things out and siphon out any brittle highs or 'tinny' frequencies.
Once you've gotten your signal in phase, The Phazer has a whole lot of practical applications. On electric guitar, you can combine the direct feed of an amp with a room mic to create fat, rich tones. On a kick drum, combine the attack from a batter head mic with the body captured by the outer shell mic or the top and bottom mics on a snare drum for a more balanced, full sound. No matter what your production needs are, The Phazer is more than capable of delivering the goods.
