The Gretsch G5422G-12 is a true hollow body arch top with parallel tone bar bracing and a sound post. The sound post adds stability to the structure and increases sustain while allowing the guitar to retain the essential hollow body sound. The G5422G-12 features a thinner 2.25” double cutaway body that recalls the Chet Atkins Nashville and Country Gentleman models of the 1960’s. This design improves overall ergonomics and with a neck that joins the body at 17th fret this guitar offers much easier access to the upper frets. The neck angle is just right allowing the guitar to be set up with perfect action all along its 22 frets. The playability of the G5422G-12 is exceptional with nice low action and excellent fretwork. The neck is a "U" style shape with a low profile but not too thin. The "Black Top" Filter’Tron pickups are excellent with full bodied tone and a warm vintage character. Their tonal characteristics really shine on a 12 string guitar. The bridge pickup is bright and snappy with just the right amount of “twang” and great note definition. The neck pickup is mellow and springy with a more "scooped" tonal character and has a big full bass response. When combined, the pickup set offers a quintessential full spectrum jangle that you can only get from a 12 string hollow body. The G5422G-12 one of the absolute best values in electric 12 string guitars on the market outshining models 2 even 3 times its price. As a bonus it looks as good as it sounds, and that’s saying something!

Why We Love Gretsch
Gretsch has been handcrafting guitars for over 135 years. The unique sound of the Gretsch semi-hollow body guitar has become synonymous with rockabilly music, one of the first styles of rock ‘n roll. Gretsch guitars are a favorite among musicians like Chet Atkins, Brian Setzer and George Harrison. At Cream City Music, we love Gretsch too, which is why we always have a huge selection of new, used and vintage Gretsch guitars in stock.
