Description
What makes this guitar special: A very rare boutique archtop, hand made in Toledo, OH by W.G. Barker in 1963. It features all solid tone woods & is fitted with a floating DeArmond pickup which dates to '62. The slender profile neck is super comfortable to play up & down the fretboard. The guitar offers a warm, rich tone with superb resonance & has been professionally set up by our luthier, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: It's obvious the previous owner loved playing his guitar as evidenced by the typical play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Skinny profile maple neck with multi-ply binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Multi-bound headstock with engraved logo which reads Hand Made By W.G. Barker. Gold "waffle back" tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & the truss rod functions fine.
Body: Single-cutaway archtop in sunburst finish. Solid spruce top with 5-ply binding & dual F-holes with 3-ply binding. Trapeze tailpiece with gold hardware & floating rosewood bridge. Thick, 2-ply (black/white) pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Solid maple back & sides with 5-ply binding. The back is not really bookmatched, as the bass side shows much more flame figuring than the treble side. 17" lower bout width & roughly 3" depth. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 1.2 oz.
Pickup: Vintage DeArmond floating pickup with input jack & single volume control mounted to the pickguard. The pot code dates to '62.
Case: Original, vintage hardshell case included.
