Description
The Walrus Canvas Expression Pedal is built for players whose rigs have outgrown a traditional one-output expression pedal. Its two independently configurable outputs can each operate as an expression, switch, or control voltage output, while TRS MIDI and USB-C add control over MIDI hardware, software, and DAW parameters. That makes it especially useful for larger pedalboards, synth setups, and hybrid hardware/software rigs where one treadle may need to handle several different jobs.
Outputs A and B can control two different devices simultaneously, with automatic expression wiring detection helping accommodate TRS, RTS, and TS resistance configurations. You can adjust taper and sweep direction for expression duties, configure momentary or latching behavior and activation points when using an output as a switch, or generate selectable 0-3.3V or 0-5V control voltage for synth and modular gear. MIDI expands things further with up to 16 assignable messages, CC and PC support, TRS Type A MIDI, and high-resolution 14-bit USB MIDI. More detailed assignments and settings can be handled through the Canvas web editor.
There are no pots, or gears in the treadle mechanism to become scratchy or wear out, and the physical resistance of the treadle itself is adjustable to suit how you like to work it. We see the Canvas Expression making the most sense when you have several pieces of controllable gear but don't want several dedicated controllers taking up space. It puts expression, switching, CV, and MIDI control under one foot in a particularly flexible format.
